Robert Rauschenberg: Erasing the Rules exhibit

Retrospective exhibit at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMoMA) - Spring 2017

These are some of my favorite works that caught my eye when I saw this show. Rauschenberg is one of my favorite artists and it was awesome to see these artworks up close. Why is he on my list of favorite artists? Well, I love color (that’s stating the obvious right?!) and he used lots of it. I’m also inspired by how far his out of the box thinking took him off-the-canvas. He coined these artworks “combines” because he was combining painting and objects together. It’s also interesting to me how no two of his works look exactly the same, he definitely experimented, and yet, when I go to a museum I’ve never been to before, I can instantly recognize a work of his even though I’ve never seen it before. Experiences like this encourage me to be bold, take risks, experiment, and follow my impulses.

Do you see me? Museum selfie in the reflection of this painting.

I flipped out when I saw this. The famous erased De Kooning drawing by Robert Rauschenberg. Apparently it’s in their permanent collection, but I had never seen it on display before. I remember learning about this work in my contemporary art history class. Such a thrill to see it in person!

Emerging Abstract Artist Chloé Meyer Wins 2018 Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau Label Competition

I am thrilled and honored to have won the 2018 Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau Label Competition! My original abstract oil painting, Foolish Pleasure, will be on the labels of both the Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau and their Rosé wines. Both wines will be available nationwide on November 15th. ‘Excited’ is an understatement to how I feel about seeing my artwork on wine labels. Thank you so much to everyone who voted for my painting. It means the world to me!

November 15th, 2018 is a few days away. I’ve been told that certain locations sell out the day the wine is released. So, if you have your heart set on it, you might want to call ahead to your favorite wine store and ask them to set a bottle aside for you.

If you post images of you and your loved ones with the Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau or Rosé to Instagram this holiday season, I’d love to see them! Be sure to tag me!

Cheers!

7th Annual St. George's Art Festival, Nashville, TN

I'm very excited to announce I have been selected to participate in the 7th Annual St. George's Art Festival in Nashville, TN.  The theme is 'Light' and their description of the theme spoke deeply to my heart... from their website: "... works of art that grow out of an engagement with a spiritual core and reflect the theme of “Light”. The pieces themselves do not have to portray a biblical story, theme, or even point to some particular Christian value but should show that the artist understands that his or her art grows out of a place of spiritual seeking or understanding."

The opening reception for the show is April 12, 2018 from 5pm to 7pm.  Please visit http://stgeorgesart.com/ for more information.

This is my painting, Silhouette, which has been selected for the show.
